Offered at this unique price, the lowest you will find for the set. A fine set of 4 hunting mezzotint prints in very good condition. The prints depict different aspects of Hare Coursing, that is, the hunting of hares with greyhounds and on horseback. The four are titled: GOING OUT, FINDING, COURSING and THE DEATH. They are the work of the artist Richard Jones and the copper plate is engraved by Charles Turner. The prints were published in London by R Ackermann, in 1821. These are a later issue, probably around the early 1900s. Titled; Going Out. Finding. Coursing. & The Death. 22" x 19" they can be trimmed with ease to fit standard 20"x16" or 500mm x 400mm frames available from all High street outlets. Artist unknown to myself but his ability is very good. The manner the main image is brought to the eye by gentle misting of background is a fine ability. Setting is captured without making the work too "Busy" Created from the 2008 New-Year Day Meet at Clare Suffolk. Black Collar would indicate the rider is a Dunston Harrier (open to correction) visiting the Essex & Suffolk. Framed as shown in an authentic Early C20th hardwood frame with hand laid glass of substantial size at 22" x 26" Further images of this work available.
